About the work

A hand rests against a pale blue shirt. The close crop brings skin, cloth and the pressure of the gesture into focus, withholding the face and much of the body. GHR4 is a collaboration between Delphine Gaborit, Anthea Hamilton and Lewis Ronald, bringing choreography, visual art and photography into a shared image. The photograph gives an ordinary touch a concentrated presence, allowing a small detail to suggest the body beyond the frame.

About the artist

Delphine Gaborit, Anthea Hamilton and Lewis Ronald bring choreography, visual art and photography into a shared practice. Their joint credit on GHR4 identifies three individual makers collaborating on one work.

Gaborit is a choreographer and movement director whose work spans theatre, fashion and contemporary art. Her collaborations with Hamilton include The Squash at Tate Britain and Othello: A Play. She has also worked with Martin Creed and as associate movement director on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Hamilton was born in London in 1978 and studied at Leeds Metropolitan University and the Royal College of Art. Her exhibition history includes The Squash at Tate Britain in 2018, The Prude at Thomas Dane Gallery in 2019 and Mash Up at M HKA, Antwerp, in 2022.

Ronald is a photographer whose portfolio spans artist portraits, architecture, fashion and collaborations with visual artists. His work includes photographs of Liliane Lijn, Magdalene Odundo and Hurvin Anderson, and the project Night Flowers with Hamilton.

Their 2026 artist book GaboritHamiltonRonald brings together twenty-five photographs made early that year, organised around Marianne Moore’s poem To a Snail. Its close views of bodies and still lifes connect gesture with restraint and physical form.
