About the work
Composition presents painting as an arrangement of relationships: colour, form and the spaces that connect them. Signed and dated 1953, this oil on canvas invites an encounter with the image on its own terms. Its open title gives no narrative instruction, allowing attention to move between individual passages and the balance of the whole.
