Grizelda Kitching

Untitled

Joseph Clark Collection · JCC-0035

About the work

A pale blue field holds a lively arrangement of green, cobalt, lavender and warm yellow marks. An irregular blue outline loosely contains the composition, while the textured paper and its uneven edges remain visibly present. Colour shifts between broad passages and smaller gestures, giving the work an intimate, exploratory character. It connects with Grizelda Kitching’s interest in the possibilities of layering, surface and abstraction.

About the artist

Grizelda Kitching is an artist and printmaker associated with Peckham, London. She completed an MA in Printmaking at Camberwell College of Arts in 2016. Her practice often begins with photographic material and develops through processes including monoprinting and screenprinting, allowing colour, texture and layered surfaces to alter the initial image.

Kitching works between observation and abstraction, treating printmaking as a means of experimentation as well as reproduction.
